I am still working away at my thesis. It really means that I am having trouble coming up with ideas for blogs on my own. So please ask me some questions. I am desperate for new ideas to write about. I have a few thoughts, but maybe some feedback with let me know whether there would be any interest:
1) vaccines-what they are and how they work
2) fluorescence-because of that whole mountain dew myth
3) what is a flame? This might really be my attempt at answering Alan Alda's "what is a flame?" challenge.
And I am out. Please ask your questions. And also vote on whether or not you would like to see a post about any of the above topics.
HI,
ReplyDeleteI was just randomly googling over net and I came across this blogspot. I'm not a chemical guy and I don't have science related background, but I'm curious to know - a part from atoms listed on periodic table is there any possibilty of any other element, lets say suppose a meteorite falls on earth containing an element which is stable as well as have some awesome properties which is unknown to humans. Is there any different hypothetical system in which a atom or group of atoms can exist apart from the orbital system that they are in right now???
Absolutely there is the possibility of elements besides the ones on the periodic table. As a matter of fact the table is described by chemists as the periodic table of all the KNOWN elements. I like this topic. I will follow it up with an actual blog entry. Thanks for your interest.
DeleteIf you ask me these are pretty interesting thesis topic ideas already, especially the fluorescence topic. I've heard about newborn rabbits that glow in the dark. I'm not quite sure if it's true, but it was televised, but then again what isn't these days right? Maybe you could throw that in as one of your cases aside from mountain dew?
ReplyDeleteHi Harry,
DeleteThanks for you suggestions. I can definitely take a look at the fluorescence topic. The rabbits are true-they have been genetically modified to carry the green fluorescing protein gene. The GFP won the Nobel Prize in 2009.
